Black History

As we dive head first into February many reflect on the amazing things black people did before us. We take this time to reflect on our ancestors. I think while it is great that America recognizes amazing figures such as Shirley Chisholm, Martin Luther King, Rebecca Lee Crumpler, and Richard Allen. It is important to remember and honor them all year long. Their contributions to society are unforgettable and powerful. Use this your life but February especially to remember your roots and do something nice for others. Our black ancestors stood up for their rights. Do the same; volunteer, go to protests to fight for a cause you believe in, help others. Make sure to be apologetically black just like Rosa Parks, MLK, and Malcolm X. Exercise your rights that they fought so hard to get. You can use this month to learn about as many black influencers you can. My mom makes me and my siblings write 1 paragraph on a black scientist, protester or entrepreneur every day in February. It is important to know about your history. Use this month to expand you knowledge and mind.

I am a student-athlete. I swim USA and I play travel softball. I want to reach out and help/inspire other young black athletes.
